Purple Donkey Orchid

Purple Donkey Orchid Diuris punctata

Visited Tallong cemetery on an orchid trip on the weekend and found some of these in flower, I was told a week before the entire cemetery was covered with these but the "grass" had been mown. These ones were growing around some trees that had been planted and were spared. Tried a different technique with these, shooting wide open with a 300mm f4, there was quite a breeze blowing at the time, so I took a few short bursts handheld. BG is a brick wall.

Canon 1D MkIIn + 300mm f4, 1/1250 @ f4, ISO 200, diffuser, handheld.

A nice-looking bunch and a lovely BG, Chris. Nothing not-to-like in this pic.

Very nice image Chris. I like the DOF and clean background. The composition is excellent with those diagonal leaves.

I love the composition, and the background couldn't be creamier. Nicely done.

I'm excited for you - and for me - that it is orchid season down there and you are out and about with that new camera :D
the bg color and bokeh is wonderful and the focus/dof work well...

Outstanding shot, Chris. Those two diagonals really make this a special shot, IMO. The forward bloom is nice and sharp and the falling off dof works well. Very nice.

I do love Orchids, so you can keep these coming as long as you like! Beautiful colours and detail against that complementary bg Chris!
